Incentives, Falling Cost and Rising Demand in China's PV Market

Thanks to cheaper raw materials and PV technology innovation, solar electricity cost in China is estimated to have declined by 50% from 2006 to 2008, making solar power a strong candidate to become a major energy resource.

I would guess this is why SunTech is not upgrading its U.S. website or doing much of a push now in the U.S.?

Didn't SunTech just announce they will open a plant in Arizona?

I think they still depend heavily on markets outside of China..

Very interesting, and well written!
It's pretty clear that with the current prices, you need a strong government, with a large budget (not spent on any war) and a crave for new electricity infrastructure, to really make use of solar energy. The good news is that it will make solar power more accessible for the rest of the world.

Interesting article.

China just revised its renewable energy law. It seems Chinese electricity companies have to buy all the power produced by renewable energy from April 2010. I wonder how this will affect the Chinese solar market.
