enXco Enters 115-MW Module Supply Deal with Suntech

California, United States [RenewableEnergyWorld.com]

enXco has entered into a sales agreement with Suntech Power to supply up to 115 megawatts of photovoltaic modules in 2010.

 

The supply agreement will enable enXco to execute on its growing portfolio of 2010 projects in both the United States and Canada, for both rooftop and ground mounted utility-scale projects.

“enXco has built exceptional expertise in the development of renewable energy projects over the past 20 years, and we are very pleased to partner with them in the expansion of their solar business,” said Steven Chan, Suntech’s chief strategy officer. “Our commitment to continuously drive solar innovation and deliver the most cost-effective solar solutions is a key element of this new partnership.”

 

RenewableEnergyWorld.com's Stephen Lacey caught up with Chan at Solar Power International last week to talk about the company's recent activities in North America as well as the state of the Chinese market.

This was a very interesting interview, thanks.

Suntech is sold out, really? Sold out of everything in their lines?

What I am hearing locally confirms what he has said about demand picking up.

A Portland neighborhood project that was expecting 50 to sign up ended up with over 300 and had to close the project and put names on a waiting list for another phase.

Getting something up in a public place where people can watch a meter showing generation would stoke interest here even more.

I've made pitches for schools a lot, so I'm going to branch out with other public spaces that would see a lot of traffic: grocery stores, which tend to be depressingly boring and lit with glaring harsh light at what you know is quite an expense every time you look at them.

I would love to see see-through or light-through, both Suntech products, on hospitals, parking garages, and community centers.

That way, people going by are going to think about them every time they pass.

Maybe other vendors make see-through and light-through also, but I have seen these on the Suntech website.

I'd like to see/hear more interviews like this.
