You want a huge market for electric cars? Make one of your models a simple, no frills electric car which is very well engineered, easily repaired by a home mechanic (electrics should be far simpler than internal combustion vehicles) and is clad with solar panels on every exposed surface. Include a solar unit that fits on the home and dumps its power into the electric vehicle when the owner gets home. Give no warantee and pass the savings on to the owner. Make the car so reliable that soon no warantee will be a positive selling point. make the styling distinctive (think volkswagen, deux cheveau, model T) and keep the model the same for years and years. Do a Skunk works on it, using as many off the shelf inexpensive components as possible, only innovating were necessary and price accordingly. Your market will be huge.

William Hughes, this makes so much sense, it's hard to imagine its getting done, but hard times could force some new thought. Aerodynamic exteriors can sport advertising, so maybe the idea of making a statement that way will begin to appeal.

I have read the above comments and wish to add this.......I have developed an electric vehicle that never needs recharging or pluging in to re charge, it is called a Solarwind EV.....my company is VWTT,LLC. The EV uses solar and wind to re charge the battery pack by using solar on exterior of the EV and a small micro wind turbine in the front (grill) of the EV. I have also developed a VAT that will out performe any on the market today. For more info please contact me at Windcrank@yahoo.com
