Cupertino Electric Inc. (CEI) has completed construction of the first solar array in the Americas for business software leader SAP. The roof top solar array covering two buildings at SAP's Palo Alto campus will produce an average of approximately 192,400 kWh per year.
Finally this week, First Solar Inc. announced that its common stock was added to the S&P 500 Index after the market closed on October 15.
"Cupertino Electric has proven to be a valuable and trusted business partner to SAP," said Tracy Prentiss, VP Business Development for SAP Palo Alto. "Their photovoltaic division was instrumental in design development, permitting and construction of the first solar power array in the Americas for SAP. The project was delivered on time, on budget and with an extremely high degree of professionalism.”
aleo solar will supply solar modules for an 850-kilowatt (kW) solar farm in Straßkirchen, Germany. A building permit has been granted for the solar power plant, which is expected to be connected to the grid in December. A total of 3,300 aleo type S_18 modules will be installed on a fixed mounting system supplied by Krinner Schraubfundamente GmbH. They are expected to yield 900,000 kWh of energy annually.
The Avon Old Farms School in Avon, Connecticut announced that installation on a 205-kW solar PV on the roof of its ice rink has been completed. The electricity generated by the solar energy system will cost the school about 30% less than electricity from the utility. The solar system was installed by Alteris Renewables, recently ranked the fastest growing renewable energy company in the Northeast.
Finally this week, First Solar Inc. announced that its common stock was added to the S&P 500 Index after the market closed on October 15. First Solar is the first pure-play renewable energy company to be added to the index, which represents a milestone for the solar industry. The company will be added to the S&P 500 GICS (Global Industry Classification Standard) Electrical Components & Equipment Sub-Industry of the Industrials sector.
