A 6-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic plant in Montalto di Castro, Italy has just been completed by Enel.si. This project joins the company's solar portfolio, which also includes a 3-MW plant in Serre Persano, Italy's first large-scale photovoltaic plant, which was inaugurated in 1993 and is still fully operational.
The panels used to construct the power station were supplied primarily by Sharp.
The Montalto di Castro photovoltaic plant, which covers an area of nearly 10 hectares, is projected to generate more than 7 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per year.
The plant was designed and completed by Enel.si. The panels used to construct the power station were supplied primarily by Sharp. The cost of the project was not disclosed.
In the last three years, Enel.si, a subsidiary of Enel Green Power, the Enel Group company fully dedicated to the operation and development of renewables, has led the installation of more than 80 MW of photovoltaic plants for industrial and domestic customers as well as utilities.
