The NH Hoteles chain and solar group Isofotón have signed a co-operation agreement covering both solar thermal and solar photovoltaic installations.

This agreement provides for Isofotón to guide NH Hoteles in the use of the best practices in the field of solar power, the company says.

The first solar projects are now being built. Most noteworthy are the NH Parque Avenidas in Madrid and the NH Campo de Gibraltar in Palmones (Algeciras). Studies are also under way for a number of hotels in Sicily and southern Italy, where the hotel chain and Isofotón have a strong presence.

The agreement also includes the preliminary study of NH's hotels for installing photovoltaic and thermal solar power in all those hotels where it is technically viable.

NH Hoteles currently has 347 hotels with 52,676 rooms in 22 countries in Europe, America and Africa and has at present 54 new projects for hotels under construction, which will provide more than 8000 new rooms.
