Talbott Solar principals Dean Newberry and David Galbraith think it would be possible to reduce GHG emissions to zero, but says Galbraith: "We don't want to reduce emissions to zero since homeowners wouldn't fully appreciate their savings unless they got a utility bill." Instead, the developer is committed to a reduction of 90%, twice the city requirement.

Does anyone else think that's a strange comment?

It's strange, but so is reality.

I have to say, though, that a payment from the utility would trump a low energy bill, even if it were a check for .69.

Anyone who has previously read my comments knows I play on this theme a lot. There just has to be a set value on the positive side of the ledger for the system-owner, even if it's low to start off with, before Gold In Sacks runs gas prices up again.

Feeding in to a monopoly's profits just does not feel that good. It feels vaguely bad.

If the homes are going to be connected to the grid, zero does not work, and it's not just because it is boring and would easily be taken for granted.
