Eventually something like this has got to work. When it does, it can become the model for similar facilities around the globe, in areas with lots of high-incidence sunshine. If this can work as far north as the southern U.S., it should be able to work even better closer to the equator.

As I understand it, this already works well -- SkyTrough is the next-generation parabolic trough with a larger solar collector area and less expensive parts, which makes parabolic trough solar plants easier to build and more competitive economically.
