Ocean Power Technologies Inc. (OPT) says it has reached two major manufacturing milestones in the development of its flagship PB150 PowerBuoy wave energy device.
OPT says it intends to deploy further PB150 PowerBuoys in projects around the world at locations including Reedsport in Oregon, Victoria, Australia and Cornwall, UK.
The company says it has now completed the mechanical elements of the power take-off system and the awarding of the steel fabrication contract for the PowerBuoy structure.
Once the steel fabrication is complete, the 150 kW PowerBuoy will be fully assembled and ready for deployment by the end of 2009 at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Scotland, where OPT has already secured a 2-megawatt berth.
Once fully demonstrated at EMEC, OPT says it intends to deploy further PB150 PowerBuoys in projects around the world at locations including Reedsport in Oregon, Victoria, Australia and Cornwall, UK.
