At 100 kilowatts (kW) of rated power, a Northwind 100 can offset a large portion of the energy costs for an individual school.

This is a great idea in theory, but...only one turbine? Surely, many schools could support multiple turbines. The real challenge will be siting them to take full advantage of prevailing winds, since proper site evaluation takes at least a year. And many schools probably won't have sufficient wind resources to make this practicable. Still, it should be implemented where feasible!
