Masdar City is no doubt an extremely well envisioned concept of H.H. Sk. Mohd bin Zayed Al Nahyan and he deserves to be nominated for The Nobel Peace Price. The Masdar has given such a huge impetus to several renewable energy projects including solar and wind that several zero carbon - zero waste projects have independently and individually/ jointly being researched. New ideas and projects are still being welcomed by Masdar.

Besides, the value added due to large dissemination of information to the general population will have its own cascading effect in coming years. qsurti@gmail.com

Trees and climbing plants can store significant amounts of fresh water and reduce cooling load by shade and evaporation. They also add biomass which can return diversity and fertility to soil, at the same time providing food and fiber for local people. I do not know what species are planned, but I know there is a gardener in Israel who was able to germinate a very old date palm species from seed. She did this in cooperation across race and cultural divides. It would be dramatic if heritage plants could be cultured and cared for at Masdar. Humans would flock from around the world to see horses, camels, and goats integrated as well. In the U.S., birds of prey now protect blueberry fields. I don't know if fruit-eating birds would arrive in sufficient numbers to require falcons-for-hire any time soon, or whether there are creatures that can survive the high sugar content of dates, other than humans. Nonetheless, I follow announcements about Masdar with great interest. Thanks for the information.

Definitely Masdar city will the world leader in zero Co2 zone, However, this is not the solution to gas emissions problem. What is the use of having such typical city while less than 10 km away from it we find extremely different situation and instead of having zero CO2 zone we have 100% CO2 production. We need to change our life style and energy consumption behaviour in parallel with renewable energy application, and do not take such type of project as business marketing for some companies.
