Greek solar module manufacturer HelioSphera, has signed a long term supply agreement with Tecno Spot, an Italian distributor of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules and components. The contract includes the supply of a minimum of 9 megawatts (MW) of micromorph thin-film modules between 2009 and 2010. Both parties agreed to consider a framework for additional quantities in 2010.
"A key point for Tecno Spot to sign the contract was also the leading edge production standards and the non use of cadmium."
-- Gert Gremes, CEO, Tecno Spot
HelioSphera's 60-MW production facility in Tripolis, Greece will be ready to start production and the first deliveries during the 3rd quarter of 2009. This deal is further proof that the Italian and Greek solar PV markets are heating up at a quick pace. This comes thanks in part to increased manufacturing capacity in both countries as well as favorable feed-in tariff levels for solar PV installations that have been set by the Greek and Italian governments.
”Tecno Spot was searching a new partner in the thin film modules sector with a product that achieves the highest quality standard and we were glad to get the chance to introduce this product on the Italian market. A key point for Tecno Spot to sign the contract was also the leading edge production standards and the non use of cadmium.” said Gert Gremes, CEO of Tecno Spot.
