It is too bad that our country (US) could not develop along these lines but I guess with the multi-billion dollar giveaways, we cannot afford to do so. The old saying, "a fool and his money are soon parted" seems to apply to us.

Yes, it's sad that we've had applications for hundreds of MW of CSP for years now, but it takes so long to get a license approved in California. Thousands of MWs applied for, and maybe none has reached construction stage.

Well, at least Nevada moved ahead with Nevada One in 2007

and Florida has broken ground on a 75 MW facility.

Govt. of Rajasthan in India who had applications of hunderds of MW capacity CSP based Solar Power Plants for development pending for a long time now taken a hostoric decision and allocated 30 MW capacity development to three developers namely ESSAR POWER, ACME Telepower, and Entegra with 10 MW capacity to each.

The tariff is to be decided by State Regulators for the PPA to be entered with utilities.

This is the most encouraging decision of the state govt. under its Soalr Mission with further target of 100 - 150 MW additional capacity build up to follow soon.

RVUNL / RRECL must also take a lead role to implement long pending Mathania Solar Power Project with State govt. commitment for the equity as facilitated in case of building new thermal power plants of 660 MW capacity on super critical parameters.

With the efforts of developers to facilitate and take up manufacture of key structural equipments, actuators, control and instrumentation, pipeline, storage tanks, heat exchangers etc. required for the solar block will result into affordable price of solar block compared to international market. The state agencies will have no issues to accept and appvove the tariff for financial viability.

It is the time for international solar communities also to come forward and support solar mission of the state govt. to bring it to a reality.
