I wish they would include more figures - at least on the overall cost of their plants, area of land they use, etc. - to be able to compare with other manufacturers - for investments, etc.

Another firm is offering investors a "no cost - no risk" ownership in their
plant under construction using their tax liability with 100% Federal Income Tax Credit - so their entire investment is refunded by the government. And then they also expect to return about 10 times their investment within a few years. Better explained here: www.websites-host.com/energy-credit

Besides the Ivanpah project there are a number of solar thermal projects under consideration for a license by the California Energy Commission. The Commission's website has detailed information about land use, type of equipment, water use, etc. http://www.energy.ca.gov/ Other projects of note would be the Beacon Solar project, SCS Solar projects and the Carrizo project. Land use is an issue. If built the Beacon project will be 2000 acres for about 250MW. The total Ivanpah project will be 3400 acres. http://www.energy.ca.gov/sitingcases/ivanpah/index.html
