Plans for First CSP Plant in Asia

August 06, 2008  |  5 Comments

Yee Fong Chemical and Everphoton have announced plans to set up the first Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) plant power plant in Asia. The first phase of 200 kilowatts will be completed at the beginning of 2009 and will be located at southern Taiwan.

Everphoton has indicated that it will use solar cells from three suppliers for its solar power plant project. The 1-megawatt (MW) project is due to begin construction by the end of 2008 and will be based on Everphoton CSP technology of high-efficiency modules, high concentration Fresnel lens, sensors & controller, and tracker.

"We are now planning to launch a 1-MW [CSP] power plant in Taiwan and it will also be the first one in Asia to demonstrate our high quality system,” said Eric Chen, Everphoton's CEO.

Hi!! I'm from Thailand. We have a project to build 10MW STE plant which we have 2 licenses from government with feed in tariff (adder) for 10 years.

This project will be starting first construction on Q1/09 and I'm sure that it's first CSP plant in asia.

If you are interesting our project, please contact me via zuph_s@siamsolarenergy.com

Thanks, Green World will start from a litter green plant, we believed.

CSP is actualy mainly used to refer to thermosolar electricty generation. Nevertheless it mean concentrated solar power so it should normaly refer to both thermal and PV system.
For concentrated PV, CPV is more used than CSP...

CSP means concentrated solar photovoltaic...I think...

I think they mean a CPV plant, not CSP. Typically, CSP refers to a solar thermal to electric system. This seems to be a PV based project.

The headline is not quite accurate. A CSP plant is being built at Ordos in China and there are CSP plants in Australia.

CSP projects around the world can be seen on Google Earth via a link from http://www.trec-uk.org.uk/resources.htm#CSP_GE .
