It is sometimes difficult to remember that within the human race there are those that can play some of the most beautiful music with never having learned to read or write music. Think of how some many people can whistle a tune and yet not know how to read music. Each of us is given a gift.
Some can paint without lessons. Some can write, or... Well you get the picture. The possibilities could be limitless.
What is gained by being taught a structured way. What is lost by learning it well enough to make the grade.
There is, I think a nursery ryhme or song about a Butterfly singing to an Inch worm. While the Inch worm is measuring the Marigolds," 2 and 2 are 4, 4 and 4 are 8," the Butterfly is singing "why cant you look and see how beautiful they are?"
This is something I normaly do not do, but for lack of space, here it goes.

There was a time when every waking moment of a persons life was all about coexisting with nature. It was all their five senses (and possibly sixth sense) would ever expierence. Even their dreams and nightmares were filled with the images of nothing but nature. They knew nothing else. Then the "white" settlers came and that all started to come to an end.

What are our waking moments full of in this nuclear age? What do our five senses take in? What are our dreams and nightmares full of in this nuclear age?
Mr. Stimpson, are you ready for your vision quest?
Soon, a great Eagle will enter your dreams and fly you into the West. It will show you your animal guide by the banks of a river. There will be several animals there. Allow your heart to tell you which one is your guide in life. Embrace this expierence and learn from it. There is great power in the Earth that cannot be harnessed by any machine and sold at a profit, but its worth is of the greatest wealth.

I have the ultimate answer for slow moving corporate money encumbered legislators (red and blue) who ignore the critical need for legislation NOW and at a war time speed a la Lester Brown's latest proposals for 200,000 wind turbines and an infrastructure to move it around with....
and that solution is we ALL go on a general strike for one month, head to Washington DC, but... instead of heading for the W h i t e H o u s e, we head for "K" S t r e e t and we don't leave until they have moved out and legislation is in place to keep them, and all private money, out of our democracy! While we are at it we should ask/demand an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, and a publicly funded one-payor health care system. Maybe even ask for public ownership of all energy producing facilities and the energy transportation infrastructure... After all, Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness (which require access to health care, education, water, food, shelter, and heat) should be a global civil right denied to no one for lack of "means". Then we'll be approaching the type of headset we need to reach sustainability, and really only then.

If we could go back to the feelings during World War Two, when the American people got behind the government 100%, and the feelings were displayed in patriotic slogans, and programs throughout the country, then our politicians would have a better understanding of what it actually takes to not only make this county secure, but to actually foster a sense of patriotism that has been missing in this county for many years. Allegiance is one thing, commitment to a cause is another, and that is what the people had during World War Two--Allegiance to this countries principles, and commitment to its core values. Somehow the Inscription on the Statue Of Liberty--giving hope to all those who wanted a better life, pretty well says it all .

In a more ideal democracy there should political pressure from constituents most of the time. The characteristic remains that our representatives just don't see clean or green energy as important enuf to be valued over war and wealthy contributor funding. Many tactics and bills can be weighed and critiqued with little effect on outcome until reps have the big picture in mind instead of short term survival and profit. I'd like to see a new wave of moral politicians running for office that would bring the larger view into perspective and vote accordingly.
