[The Register Guard] With the price of unleaded gasoline hovering at the US $3.50 per gallon mark in the Eugene-Springfield area and the price of oil at US $114 per barrel, Oregonians will see an increasing amount of funds being shifted out of the state to pay for our collective transportation fuel costs. Oregonians consumed 1.57 billion gallons of gasoline and 0.75 billion gallons of diesel in 2005. At US $3.50 per gallon for gas and $4 for diesel, Oregonians may spend more than US $8.4 billion on transportation fuel this year.
