My company is developing a High Efficiency Renewable Energy Turbine, RET, that will give added efficiency to CSP (rankine, steam or other based), as well as Geothermal. The efficiencies coupled with Fresnel collectors is quite extraordinary, and way below fossil fuel competitors. JRIAM1945@AOL.COM

Has anyone thought of using lenses to concentrate the sunlight? The lenses could be used to concentrate the light from mirrors on the absorber tube. They also could be used in the middle above the absorber tubes in addition to the mirrors. This is an idea that I have had for many years. I also would suggest that something other than salt be used in the absorber tubes such as oil. The steam from the system could be cycled into an underground chamber to condense into water and be reused. This water would also be an energy storage area. This could be reused and would not need as much energy to convert it a second time to steam. I am sure that someone has already thought of using super heated steam.
I have been playing with this idea for a long time.

Another idea would use plants for solar energy rather than burning them. What I mean by this is that plants are probably more efficient at capturing solar energy than even our best solar cells could learn a thing or two. Trees probably have a lower efficiency than rain forest plants from the canopy that have very little sunlight to survive off of yet somehow live a good life for a plant! If we could copy that efficiency percentage solar panel prices would plummet by at least 20-40% by 2015.
