POET Opens the First Ethanol Plant in Ohio

Leipsic, Ohio [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] POET has officially opened its 22nd ethanol production facility and the first in the state of Ohio. POET Biorefining - Leipsic will utilize 22 million bushels of corn from the area to produce 65 million gallons of ethanol and 178,000 tons of Dakota Gold Enhanced Nutrition Distillers Products per year. Ethanol marketing for the facility is provided by POET Ethanol Products and byproducts are marketed by POET Nutrition.

The plant is the first of three ethanol production facilities that POET will open in Ohio this year. Additional POET plants are currently under construction in Marion and Fostoria. "We are honored to open the first ethanol plant in the Buckeye state and the first in the nation since the historic legislation of the 2007 Energy Bill," said Jeff Broin, CEO of POET. "This inspiring piece of leadership goes further than we ever have gone before as a nation to reduce our dependence on foreign sources of energy.
