Terasol LABS and SEBRAE-CE Partner To Introduce New Biodiesel Feedstocks

The partnership will analyze the feasibility of using Terasol LABS' high-yielding varieties of Castor and Jatropha in the state of Ceara. The partnership has the support of the Secretary of Agronomic Development (SDA) and the Ceara Agency for Economic Development (ADECE). Terasol LABS will provide technical knowledge and plant science expertise and SEBRAE will coordinate the partnership, select agricultural partners and choose sites for test plantations.

Terasol LABS says that currently producers are only mild interested in growing biodiesel crops because of low yields.  It believes that this partnership will address this problem by providing high-yielding, tested planting materials.

"The partnership is vital because it allows small local producers to access high technology for use in oil crop production," said Germano Parente Bluhm, Coordinator for Agribusiness at SEBRAE-CE. "Moreover, this initiative compliments the state policies of promoting biodiesel."
