Canadian Solar Signs $60 Million Supply Contract with Gintech Energy Corporation

Jiangsu, China [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Canadian Solar Inc. (CSI) announced it has signed an annual solar cell supply contract with Gintech Energy Corporation of Taiwan. Total shipments to CSI under the contract amount are between 17 megawatts (MW) and 22 MW with fixed pricing and delivery schedules in 2008. The shipment will start in January 2008.

This new agreement is a continuation of a relationship between the CSI and Gintech that has been ongoing since 2004.

I recon that solar will really take off when someone develops a solar panel which doubles as roof cladding instead of going on top of the roof cladding. The price will have to be no more than for ordinary solar panels. Being able to save the price of the roof cladding when buying solar panels will make the instalation of solar financially feasable for a lot more people. The best option would be long run roofing that goes from the peak to the eves in one piece.
