Mascoma Corporation To Build Switchgrass Cellulosic Ethanol Plant

The new plant is the third biorefinery for the company.

According to the company, the project represents one of the largest commitments of capital yet made in support of the cellulosic biofuels industry. It includes a $40 million investment in facility construction and $27 million for R&D activities.

As a Tennessee resident, I'm excited to read about this.

I'm not convinced yet of the merits of celluosic ethanol as opposed to biodiesel, but it's certainly an improvement over ethanol made from corn.
