Wind Energy Storage

A needed good technology for wind development,
Compressors in nacelles for wind storage implement,
A way to wean windpower from its intermittant frown,
No stopping of the energy as when the wind is down,
Compressed air sent to caverns deep when strong winds rise and blow,
Better selling at high prices when peak hours come and go,
And be giving to investors the encouragement they need,
Steady income will reward them for investment word and deed,
Now through storage wind capacity should energy envelope,
By surrounding and protecting some wind sources we develop,
Up 'till now we've herded sheep and cattle, time to herd the wind,
For the future of all mankind this new method should begin.

This is fantastic. The heat of compression can be captured and used. As the compressed air is expanded, it cools to a low enough temperature to provide air conditioning and even make ice to store. Compressed air can turn generators, blowers, tools, air conditioning compressors, etc. It can even power our cars. Compressed air as a storage system is far superior to batteries. Would love to see it on a residential scale.

Wind Energy and Energy Storage makes a great combination. The Wind Turbine Generators(WTG)can now deliver more(50% to 65%) of the design capability at a time when it is most needed by the grid, rather than tax the grid with variability and fickleness of the Wind. I suggest that for the smaller storage systems that are now proposed to integrate Wind and Storage, that readers also go to www.eniswindgen.com and for an overview of Energy Storage benefits that readers go to www.energystoragecouncil.org .The ISEP project is a move in the right direction for bulk energy storage, and smaller more flexible systems will be a welcome addition to the Power Generation market.
