"NABCEP receives many inquiries about the details and logistics of Solar Thermal Installer Certification and how it all works. From our vantage point, based on these inquiries and discussions, there is a most definite underlying feeling that the industry is starting to get the respect, recognition and some support it has long deserved."

Geothermal heat pumps (GHPs) are a relatively new technology that can save homeowners money. These ground-source heat pumps use the natural heat storage capacity of the earth or ground water to provide energy efficient heating and cooling.

I don't know why the GHPs are not in more of the discussions. They have a shorter payback than solar in Michigan since they provide heat, cooling, and even heat water. They can be used for radiant and even retrofit for duct work. They require only electricity and less than a typical furnace fan. Combined with solar this could get a home to zero energy!

We don't need more research, we just need to use what we have!!!!

Bill Queen is quoted refers to "grid interconnection".
"Grid interconnection" is PV - this article is about Solar Thermal.
We must endeavour to learn and use the most advanced systems available such as "plug-and-play".
Dan Chiles, VP of Watts Radiant says. Simple radiant system design will be replaced by hybrid designs that incorporate blends of the latest in solar.
Dave Dolan, VP/marketing for Weil-McLain Dolan goes on to say - make hydronic systems more "plug-and-play" so a "contractor doesn't have to think about building the house around the heating source."
The Solar Thermal installer Certification must teach how to interface with the whole hydronics design in a house and not strictly domestic hot water requirements.

We provide products that enable "plug-and-play" - see our web site - www.solarnetix.com.

Double Amen to Michael, enough research, lets implement existing OEM that exist today and work quite well. Different sites may require various set ups to maximize the sustainable resources. Interesting how the Europeans, South Americans and Asians are ten years ahead of we Americans regarding this issue. I applaud those Americans who spend the extra time and money investing in the future of the Sustainable United States.

If you knew that solar thermal will very soon be able to power a rotary generator that will then power a new Iodine-based refrigerant ground-coupled or air-source (both are indirect solar sources) heat pump, you might see a shorter distance to zero-energy homes, businesses and manufacturing centers. Solar direct and indirect (evacuated tube low-cost intermediate collectors and biomass, sorghum, micralgae)is the way of the future to go totally nuclear fusion (solar).

Amen to that Michael.
