Sacramento, California [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Last night CleanStart held its final round of competition November 15th at the Alumni Center at California State University (CSU) to allocate $50,000 in prize money. The First Place ($25,000) was awarded to NuEdison, of San Jose, which provides proprietary technology that lowers the cost of photovoltaic (PV) modules by reducing the use of silicon, enabling greater solar electricity to be produced by the industry's limited capacity. Its modules are suited for flat roofs and traditional solar electric applications as well as vertical surfaces and north-facing roofs. Second Place ($15,000) went to Mariah Power of Reno, NV, for residential wind appliances; Third Place ($10,000) went to High Merit Thermoelectrics of Davis, CA, for compact devices that convert heat directly into electrical energy.

I'd go with evergreen solar cells that use 1/100th the amount of silicon and are available now.
Maybe I will win the prize for something I wish would be made and never actually produce next year. Awards need to be made for real products we can really buy ar real affordable prices. CleanStart should learn to change their rules just like the DOE did and really make a difference.
