"The timing is going to be tense. If something gets messed up or we don't get our permits in time, then we will have a problem... Everyone is hopeful that the PTC will be extended, and we are definitely planning on moving forward."

If Washington is really concened about our energy condition, then they should get a long-term PTC extension passed before the end of 2007. Otherwise, the ten wind farms the FAA has not yet cleared because of the "possible radar interference" will surely be hit hard and the growth of windpower in the US will be severely retarded.

By providing only short term PTC extensions, the government has shown that it is not really committed to windpower development in our country. I hope our Washington leaders will take our energy situation seriously and stop all this horsing around. We act like a bunch of teenagers in comparison to European countries that are working hard to develop wind energy.

We've got to inform and educate Capital Hill and anyone who will listen. Everyone is simply too complacent about the issues at hand.

Since it takes 2 years to develop a wind farm from the sourcing of investment capital to building the turbines to installing them, the expiration date of the PTC of 12/31/07 is stalling wind farm development NOW.

Tom Brokaw said on The Discovery Channel, "Global Warming: What You Need to Know", 19 of 20 of the hottest years on record have happened since 1980!

Tim Flannery's book, The Weathermakers, paints a very well researched picture of what global warming will do to our planet. This is the warming text for us all.

I read that ALL energy is subsidized. I'd like to know more about the other energy subsidies, so Capitol Hill won't be reluctant to give us a long term PTC. Then, we can do something constructive about global warming and address the economic impacts of rising energy costs.

Do I understand correctly that the PTC is only available for large power generators? The island towns in Maine pay 32c/kwh for delivered power compared to only 16c for the mainland. If the PTC fails to be extended hopefully a few wind developers will look to our steady winds and high prices as a good place to invest in even if most towns only have a couple hundred permanent citizens.
