Katrina had NOTHING to do with global warming. Period. That storm was a Cat 1, the weakest possible storm when it moved south of Florida
after leaving the supposedly "globally warmed Atlantic." It blew up only whenit crossed the Carribbean/Gulf loop current, which normally is't in the Gulf at that time of the year. The loop current has been known for decades and has NOTHING to do with global warming.
Lies like these and the wildly differing predictions from the scientific community lead me to conclude that there are plenty of charletans out there using global warming fears to push their idiot agendas.

We should have known better! We need to control forest fires and other grass fires. The ASHRAE Green Guide needs to be used as a source of conservation in new and existing buildings. We can even construct zero energy buildings. Wind resources need to be tapped
in smart locations. Cars need to be changed to electric and grid interconnectiing using alternatives to charge them during parking hours. Install PV canopies over parking areas.
Diversify energy resources until we can run on 100% renewables. Stop the CO 2 into the atmosphere as soon as possible. Lets do it with alternatives and modern design.

Architecture and building design must undergo a rapid transformation as a key step toward reducing carbon emissions enough to avoid the catastrophic effects of global warming.

I would like to know: to whom is addressed this central message from the international experts.
The impression is that the experts sound their alarm signal in this anxious period for humanity, but nobody wants to act as it is needed.

To Kathy B, are you out of your mind to say global warming has no effect on these hurricanes. And even if global warming had no effect on Katrina, it is having a huge effect on our planet.
This country should be leading the way in terms of energy efficient design and renewable energy.

Tank you for following sentences:
1) By 2035, three-quarters of the built environment in the U.S. will be either new or renovated
making new buildings and power plants "carbon smart''
2) to rapidly change the way buildings are designed
3) We need schools to integrate into every course and every assignment ways to dramatically reduce the need for fossils

Today we use plenty of energy to get rid of energy and plant nutrients in organic materials in waste and wastewater management. In buildings designed for reuse of organic materials in waste and wastewater streams we can receive biogas and biofertilisers, minimise emissions (i.e. pollution and losses), improve working environment, create new jobs in many sectors, etc. etc.
More about the concept for G&G-system (Gas&Goedsel=Fertiliser) you can find on www.ramiran.net/DOC/E1.pdf

Please let me know who is involved in sustainable (efficient) production of biogas.

The quote by Mazria "We need schools to integrate into every course and every assignment ways to dramatically reduce the need for fossils,'' is a very import plank in a platform of measures we need to address yesterday.
Since the US had Katrina our little patch of the world has had two cat 5 storms in one season!
Larry and Monica.
