Consumers and businesses need to move fast, though. With some simple math and existing orders in the queue, we can see the year's available rebates are going to be exhausted quickly."

It's about time for Florida to catch up. They have the best test facility in the USA , FSAC but no incentives. I was amazed at how little solar I saw while in Florida. They should be a leader. Wind off the Ocean could also play a big part.

Florida SHOULD catch up and bring FPL with them. I find it ironic that FPL is asking for 10.00 a month for THEIR soalr program when they don"t give a dime back to there customers. Shame on you FPL. Get with IT!

Good move by the Government, it should be mandatory for all new houses to have solar water heaters similar to the various programes being set up in Europe.
Interest rates are low, incorporate a solar water heater in the Housing loan and reduce 3 - 4 Tones of Green House Gases a year.

Florida calls itself the 'Sunshine state'. It however doesn't seem to do much regarding the sun other than promote it's beaches. I resided in Florida from Sept. '57 to Aug. '76.

Cooling and heating costs wee devoring my budget. At that time FSU or Fla State was xperiment with grapes in it's ag program. My house, concrete block was long and narrow, about 80" long and 24" wide. The long side facing East in AM an West in PM'

As an experiment I made a 20" trellis as high as the eves and out from the house 7 1/2 feet. I planted two different vines from the Univ. They grew like crazy and shaded that section spring, summer and most of the fall.
Only shading 1/4 of the house, 1/4 was carport and utility room. With only that much I could tell the difference, moneywise and comfort wise. My intention was to plant the rest of the house bu ended up being transferred to Calif' and didn't get to finish. By the way the grapes were pretty goo too.
