Sweden Envisions an Oil-free Future

With the Swedish government's recent announcement to become the first oil-free country in the world within 15 years, the timing of the visit couldn't be better.

Sweden already produces half of its total energy supply from renewable sources, such as biomass, wind, solar, and household waste. The country is now turning its attention to increasing the production of biofuels for the transportation sector in order to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels.

As the price of oil continues to set record highs, Canadian companies and governments alike need to find alternative heating, cooling and transportation fuel solutions if they are to continue to be competitive on the world stage.

Swedish energy experts can provide those solutions. Representatives from Fortum Sweden, a major player in the Swedish energy market, and the Swedish Bioenergy Association, a network of biofuels producers, are participating in the CDEA conference program.
