Although I haven't gone into the real dtls of the amendment but on the looks of it all I can say is that it is really unfortunate to derail the progress work on the off-shore wind energy development. World has lot of expections from USA on the technology developmnt front on the Wind Energy. To halt the progress on commissioning of off- shore wind turbines would mean hurting the entire R & D work of the off-shore wind industry. I hope the amendment would not be put into force without taking in cogniscence the views of Wind Energy stakeholders.

Since the likes of Ted Kennedy don't like this offshore wind project. We could just put in a coal fired power plant some place along the shore. A nice spot would be oh let's say the Ted Kennedy's home. Oh we could use eminate domain to take his land from him. This would be after all in the publics best interest. After all this would provide cheap reliable power, but it would not be clean with all the polution.

The negative tone of your article is not up to your own publishing standards. Whether you agree or disagree with the amendment, the fact remains that the US Federal government does not have any regulation in place to specifically address off shore wind farm siting. Anyone falling prey to the label assigned by Cape Wind to all opposition, that of NIMBY, is completely irresponsible for not doing their research and noting the array of other issues that this project poses.
