"Yet while solid opportunities to invest in the solar boom exist, the high stock valuations and investor demand also raise concern of a solar bubble."

Catherine might be right about a solar bubble... I'm not arguing that... But her quote about SunPower's lower than expected earnings is wrong. SunPower's earnings were BETTER than expected despite high silicon costs. As proof check out how the price of the stock surged 20% in the two days following last quarter's earnings report. If anything the jump in SunPower's price should have helped Q-cells. Beware of bum dope.

I believe Catherine Lacoursiere's analysis that there is a problem with overvaluation of certain solara stocks is correct, however I must note the big domestic players in CSP energy contract development have not even been mentioned in the analysis. I am currently seeking employment in building and constructing such applications and have been carefully folowing their progress, whidch I believe is astronomical in comparison to solar-photovoltaic.

Is there really a silicon shortage or misuse of the supply? The silicon needed for 1 MW of conventional PV modules could make 1000 MW of PV concentrators using VMJ cells, which are fully proven effective at 1000 or more suns intensities www.photovolt.net. The economic advantage of using $10/m2 glass mirrors to greatly reduce expensive semiconductor silicon by 99.9% would be hard to beat.
