"The urgency of installing an alternative energy infrastructure has never been greater. With today's proposed decision, the PUC has essentially cocked the gun aimed at a robust solar program for all Californians to enjoy and we are anxious for them to pull the trigger bringing 3,000 MW of much-needed clean energy capacity to the state."

-- Bernadette Del Chiaro, clean energy advocate with Environment California and a leading proponent of the Million Solar Roofs Initiative

A First Step in the Name of HumanityTo compete in the Free Market Place this is the beginning to creating fair competition & economic stimulist against the fossel fuel technology that polluted not only the atomsphere but also the economy!

This is a sign of responsible leadership for the American families & small business to hedge against inflation & dependencey on foriegn oil & higher natural gas prices!

Insuring a sense of stablitity during natural disasters directly related to the environmental changes & it impact effecting economic shifts due to increase rise energy cost !

We believe in the mission of one million solar roofs across AMERICA!

And A Global Solar Energy Movement!

This arcticle is a great article bearing great news. Although I have heard a lot about the million solar roofs bill and it's goal, and have even written emails to support it, this arcticle was the first thinkg that I read about it that actually said what laws the bill would creat to reach it's goal. I strongly supported the bill before reading the arcticle, and after reading the bill, I like it even better. I think it is fitting to put stricter net metering laws on the same electricity companies that made up the CA "energy crisis" just to gouge us, and if all new homes came with solar power as a standard option because it would immensly increas public awareness of the good ecanomics of rooftop PV.

This is exactly what California and our country needs; strong legislation pushing solar into the main stream.

Now it will be the responsibility of the upstream market to provide the product and the downstream integrators to perform quality work.

This is great news for California, and a great model for the rest of the world to help reduce greenhouse gases.

Incentives for small scale (<500kW) solar concentrating thermal systems included in the Californian regulations, are going to push the technology forward, for which Katrix, an Australian company, has developed a high effficiency micropower steam motor that application, and will be on display (booth 4365) at PowerGen International, Las Vegas Dec 6-8, 2005.

The PoweGen event is a great place to see many renewable energy technologies that will allow the Californian model to move forward quickly.

This project certainly has my support. I just hope it will be cost effective. Unfortunatly, we don't have enough sun light here in missouri to support it.

Gerald Farrow:

You would be surprised about how little a state's climate can have to do with the potential for solar energy there. Currently New York and New Jersy have even bigger solar rebate programs than CA because of their population density and energy problems. Although solar energy obviously works better in sunny environments, it is still cost effective in any place that has high energy needs and moderate sunlight.
