I'd like to hear details about their efficient electric vehicle. The last competion I read about used light Neghborhood vehicles. At least a Sparrow from Myersmotors can get to highway speed and it can use all major roads, not just 35 mph and less.

As Bucky said a long time ago, we need to do more with less.

Geodesic Domes are the only logical choice for rebuilding after hurricane damage.

Less then half the materials, half the time of construction and twice as strong as conventional buildings.

A clear demonstration of superior home design. These designs would make excellent models for any new construction, or rebuilding after hurricane damage.

We need more beautiful homes, comfortable homes, and homes that produce all the power they need

I was surprised that some of the houses had no solar heating, just $100K of PVs on the roof and a heat pump. DOE also didn't allow wind or cogen, which might have helped during the cloudy week.

Missouri/Rolla had a metal roof with copper pipes in circular grooves beneath and Unisolar PVs adhered to the surface, and Rhode Island School of Design (an art school :-) had some interesting new phase change bricks they said would store heat for 5 cloudy days in a row without getting tired of changing phase... 1200 pounds of bricks equivalent to 10K pounds of hot water.

We are proud of what these students have accomplished. I hope that developers use the technology nationwide.
