Rather than focusing on cleaner burning fuels, electric cars, planting more trees etc. as the key to changing the global warming trend, Edward Mazria showed how focusing on this one issue (e.g., installing solar power, better construction methods, reducing a building's power requirements, etc.) has the potential for the highest environmental return.

I think the whole country should adopt an energy postion that will aid us in becoming less dependent on fossil fuels. And the sunlight is free for all to enjoy. In my state of Florida we are in the dark ages about this valuable source of energy.Only giving lip services to it and not doing anything to aid the general good of the taxpayers (motto:The Sun Shine State).More like the dark and out of touch State, when it comes to solar power use on a large scale. Most public and non-profit buildings should be using some form of renewable power source to generate electric. The few dollars lost by the electric companies could be made up by reduced expenses. This just a lay person's opinion.

When something like 70% of home energy use is for heating and cooling it makes little sense to rely on PV to make electricity to turn to heat & cooling. Solar thermal units should be installed that can meet the heating & cooling needs far more efficiently and more economically.

Before too long I am sure we will be able to use solar thermal to generate electricity as needed; until then PV should be restricted to units large enough to complement solar thermal.

Once again, the IBEW is being arrogant with the power they have. Hill repeatedly reminds the audience just how big and influential the IBEW is, thinking this will intimidate all those in the Solar Industry to go along with whatever they dictate.

"Is partnership still possible?" Sure it is, once you lose the attitude and stop thinking you're the one calling all the shots.

As usual, IBEW blew it.

I agree with Tricia Best, October 12, 2005 that "Solar thermal units should be installed that can meet the heating & cooling needs far more efficiently and more economically." We are a Hungarian-Israeli research team and since 2000 we made a lot of laboratory test of a new fluid for "Molten Salt Solar Energy Towers" system and "Parabolic Through System" which was developed in the USA.
Our invention was published at 04.August, 2005!!! by the WIPO under the number of WO 2005 /071037, A1. Now we are working in Europe for a cheaper and better Concentrating Solar Power system.
Our system makes electricity through steam by solar energy and therefore possible to combine it with biomass.
In a lot of countries, as we know it, have much sunny days using the concentrating system in these country, have all over the year a cheaper and environmental better method.
