Wind Critical Senator has Land Near Wind Project Site

A prominent U.S. Senator which has come down vociferously against wind power is now raising questions as to whether any personal interests are fueling his motivations, according to reporting from the Associated Press. Just weeks ago, Sen. Lamar Alexander R-Tenn. introduced legislation that would cripple new wind power development in the U.S., particularly offshore. It was just disclosed, however, that the Senator owns a piece of undeveloped property in Nantucket, Massachusetts, near where the controversial Cape Wind 130-turbine wind farm is proposed. Sen. Alexander denies any link but representatives for the American Wind Energy Association say it raises the possibility of the situation representing a high-level 'not in my back yard' situation.
