One way Minnesotans can achieve the lofty goals set out in this new law is to increase the use of E85 fuel in the estimated 100,000 flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) that can use the cleaner-burning alternative fuel. Every gallon of E85 has four times the ethanol of E20 gasoline, so the benefits of promoting E85 for FFVs on the road today that can use it are clear. See www.ClearAirChoice.org for more on E85.

Converting to alternative energy could lick the terrorest, too - once it gets going, every other nation will follow. Gee, it would just break our hearts if the terrorests couldn't sell thier oil. Every state should enact simular legeslation. Stop buying oil. Make it so!

Ethanol burns cleaner than gas so why are areas like California not using this alternative.

Governor Schwarzenegger has done a great job with solar and should be applauded for his efforts. Now he should apply his positive efforts to the air quality of California and an industry that is in its infancy by proposing legislation similar to that of Minnesota.

Recent advances in the production of ethanol have made it more feasible to produce commercially. Now is the time to harness these advances while we research and develop commercialy viable hydrogen production.

The promotion of E10/E20/E85 in the Midwest is a logical and realistic step to reduce the foreign energy demands of this country while maintaining a fairly stable price structure for transportation. Since ethanol (and biodiesel) production is usually accomplished near to the site of feedstock production it is also a way to increase the number of technical and skilled jobs in the areas surrounding farmland.
