CAPP supports a Smog Check inspection & repair audit, gasoline oxygen cap and elimination of dual fuel CAFE credit to cut car impact over 50% in 1 year.

* A Smog Check audit would cut toxic car impact in ½ in 1 year

* An oxygenate waiver would stop a $10 billion refinery welfare program coming from the fed gas tax reduction of $0.52 per gal of ethanol used

* About 1/3 of the gasoline used by new cars nationwide is allowed by the "renewable fuel" CAFE credit

The US is doomed for the lifestyle changes required for survival will never be acceptable to the likes of the idiots that voted for Bush. It will always be NIMBY here until disaster strikes...and then it will be too late. The Greek empired, the Roman empire failed, the British empire failed...and unfortunatley, the US empire is failing..

Here's a contrary opinion:
Helping the world's undernourished, poverty stricken areas, whether Africa, the Far East or South America only offers encouragement to over-population and continued stress on resources. Wouldn't it be better to offer education aimed at population control and disease reduction and elimination?
As far as the US goes, while I don't pretend to suggest that US citizens should diminish their lifestyles, I do suggest that to whatever extent we can demonstrate US caused pollution, egregious consumption of resources causing environmental stress in other areas, we can and must correct the imbalances.
It is beyond comprehension that US and other politicians are willing to defer the planning and solutions to problems that are here now, or coming shortly, within a generation or so. I nevertheless believe with all my heart that my children and grandchildren, and yours, and theirs, must inherit a planet that is worthy of being the home of the human race.

I just checked the World watch institute, they wanted $7 for a document by this author, what kind of open press is that?
Pay to be progressive, no wonder we don't have a viable movement in this nation.

Since 1953 the US has had its hands in Middle East Oil control. The immediate threat of a back lash from the "Rest Of World" through terrorism is going to happen. Climate change will take longer than one nuke going off in a major US city, which could lead to the end of us all. Unless we change our lifestyles, time will catch up with us, and we will have to lower our "standard" of wealth, one way or another.

If the department of homeland security is the model, then we are surely doomed. Sawin's suggestions are fine, but, like the USA's denial that our 5% of the world's population consuming 25% of its resources has anything to do with world poverty or political resentment that fosters terrorism, they don't include recognition that our whole lifestyle (i.e., the freedom that isn't free) has to change in the least.

Myself, I have always sustained solar power and since my birthday is tomorrow, I will ask for present a solar panel. By the way, I do not work, I do not have a car, I don't want a car because I believe in public transportation and car sharing. I use my bicycle every day. Oh, and by the way, I stopped smoking after having begun. Isn't that a coincidence? Thank you World Watch for the great job you are doing.

What matters is essence of their act, being good. It is to wonder when the international community will start to realize that the world needs to convert itself into something else, not only for the survival of itself but also for its well being. Only, when he receives the goodness, which he was not able to know by himself, he will want to share that goodness with others. This is why I thank, the Father, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ and also every man and women of goodwill, which works for the edification of mankind to what the Catholic Church defines as holiness.

Or is the financial interest of an idea, which makes it a good idea? I say a good idea is in the interest of the community, not only on financial point of view. Today, people seem to not have in mind anymore what is good for the community, but usually see what is good for them and how they are going to get it. This is why the financials have become so important. But for free men, who are willing to sacrifice there longings for the good of the community, the financials are not so important.

In business it is the shareholders that decide, it is the power which money gives to each shareholder to the rights he has. But in politics, democracy enables each individual to stand to what he believes freely. He is not tributary of his financial situation. He can always speak up to what he deeply believes. Is this true?

But if the leaders do take the correct measures to make the company grow and that these measures do not meet the approval of the majority of the work force, the company will meet problems. This is also true in the contrary. There has to be a mutual approval of what is decided to be efficient, unless the work force is corrupt. This is also true in politics.

If it is as bad as it is, we have the will to act so that the world does not worsen, but may become such our inspiration, a better place, for do not we want to avoid to build another arch? Kyoto is a good measure, but is it appropriate to the speed of the changing of times? In accounting, a "true and fair" view of the financial situation of a company helps its leaders to take decisions that will incur on its future: growth, stagnation, decrease, and failure.

While I agree that climate change is an important issue, it is not the only issue effecting our environment, and the solutions posed are not the only solutions that need be addressed to resolve the problems...

Our market driven economy is creating new elements that are not naturally recycled and creating imbalances in nature. That will not change until we each focus on our own individual response to the world we are changing.

How will most of the U.S. and the rest of the world learn about global warming? Too many people just don't know about it and everything that has to be done. A good first step is to go to www.stopglobalwarming.org and read what Robert F Kennedy, Jr. and many others have to say.

The Population Bomb, written by Paul Erlich in 1970, warned of the consequences of unchecked population growth. At that time the world's population was doubling every 37 years. Unfortunately his warnings about pollution, resource shortages etc. went unheaded. The world's population was less than 2 billion before the age of oil. Now that Peak Oil and Climate change are upon us, we are indeed at a time where our selfishness, arrogance and ignorance are catching up with us. Like any addict, do we have to hit Rock Bottom before any meaningful change will occur? I hope not but I'm not optomistic about man's future. We don't seem to learn from our past mistakes.

We have designed a very different kind of
Multi-Purpose, Vertical Axis Wind Turbine & Dynamic Plan of Action, that if implemented, that would reverse, the air pollution, create
Power, Oxygen and Hydrogen, yet we can't get to first basis, to finance this solution, to erradicate this rush to oblivion. What are we doing wrong, does there have to be an end, TO EVERYTHING? Doesn't anybody hear us?

I am for good common sense on this issue. We are in a warming trend and nothing is going to stop it. We should concentrate in doing what ever we can to clean up the pollution that is going into the Oceans. All Country's are polluting. Europe is the worse. With out good water, it does not matter what our climate does.

There is this great movie by the Monty Phyton team: ERic the Viking. In this movie the Vikings get on some Island. At some point the island starts sinking. Even when the water is reaching his lips the king of the island keeps denying that the island is sinking. Reminds me of certain pressure groups.

Setting the stage: Bleu Wave burns clean on lake

Adam Jensen, Tahoe Daily Tribune, March 14, 2007

With significant help from funds brought in through state grants, a classic 70 foot Burger yacht might just house two of the cleanest-burning diesel boat engines on Lake Tahoe.

Two 500 horsepower Series 60 Detroit engines were installed in January on The Bleu Wave, a vessel previously owned by MontBleu, but bought 2 months ago by Ryan and Laura Forvilly of Round Hill.

Subject: IMRC meeting

Hi Charlie,

You missed the first part of the last IMRC meeting when we announced
we will no longer transcribe IMRC meetings since it is an extravagant
expense that the state cannot afford. As you know, we are under no
statutory requirement to do so. All that is required are meeting
minutes. Therefore, when possible, we will record the meeting but
when a recording is not possible, we will simply post the minutes of
the meeting. Let me know of you have any questions.

Regards,

Rocky Carlisle
