I was wondering if solar PV for the bridge ltg project needed any battery backup, specially because, it was on only for 6 hrs in night.
Was it a all DC and what was the system voltage?
Was each 20 watt fixture had a cluster of 410 5mm LEDs?
I understand LADWP donated the 4.5 KW array.
What was the cost of the project without this PV?

Good job on joining energy effeciency and lighting. A first in our nation for a bridge.
Congratulations.

I hope to follow up with a lighting project in my area. Any input would be appreciated.

Wouldn't this be a spectacular display entering Canada on the International border with Detroit.

It is surprising to see how lighting can contribute to the magic of a place. The bridge with its blue dots create a futuristic image that certainly is beautiful. Bridges are places to celebrate. Engineering efforts to gap natural boundaries and allow people to stay close. Lighting is the best medium to express that joy.

The organisers of the project should submit a project entry to the IALD or the IES lighting awards for 2006.
