Paris, France Upsolar, an international provider of solar PV modules, congratulates the winner of its first advertising design contest, Nélia Olival of Portugal. Olival's design was chosen by Upsolar's Facebook fans and management team to represent the company in its 2012 marketing campaign.
"With this contest, we set out to gain visibility and connect with a broader audience about the importance of solar power via effective marketing," said Noemie Bourdin, Marketing & Branding Director at Upsolar Group. "We've certainly achieved our goals. Along with attracting more than 11,000 Facebook fans, we were able to collect valuable input from the public to ensure we honed our sustainable messaging while engaging the end-users."
Launched in February, Upsolar’s advertising design contest was created to help familiarize the general public with the solar industry. Submissions were posted on the Upsolar Facebook page, and a call to the public resulted in more than 11,000 votes. Solar industry professionals, Upsolar’s Facebook fans and the Upsolar team narrowed down and selected Olival design from dozens of entries.
Olival’s submission, which features an electrified sunflower boasting a smart connection between solar power and nature, conveys Upsolar’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement. In addition to her design gracing international print, online and exhibition hall advertisements, Olival was awarded 3,000 Euros for her winning submission.
“This contest was great because it allowed me to use my art to spread the word about the simplicity of solar power and the importance of using natural resources to protect our planet,” remarked Olival. "The sunflower follows the sun for its energy needs and serves as a reminder of how we can similarly reap the benefits of the sun through the use of PV modules. I am proud of the design and the fact that it was selected by both my peers and Upsolar."
The winning design has already begun to appear in Upsolar’s marketing materials and global PV publications.
