Total Energy USA welcomed the introduction of the Clean Energy Standard Act of 2012 (CES) as an echo of the all-of-the-above approach to energy that the U.S. needs. While Total Energy USA attendees and exhibitors represent more than clean energy technologies, the spirit of this legislation aligns with the philosophy of the event: to grow the American economy, we will need a wide variety of energy technologies and resources. The Clean Energy Standard enables many diverse technologies; wind, solar, natural gas, clean heat & power, clean coal, advanced nuclear energy, and industrial efficiency to participate and then allows the market to choose the most efficient mix of technologies.
"We laud this initiative and look forward to providing a platform for the innovation and participating in the conversation that it generates." continued Polito.
“In the U.S. we have many different local resources and an expansive variety of technologies to harness and use those resources. We need to embrace this diversity and use it to strengthen our energy network,” said Vincent Polito, President of Total Energy USA. “The Clean Energy Standard takes the same approach, recognizing that many technologies can work in harmony to improve how we generate energy in the U.S. and the market gets to decide which ones it likes best.”
The Clean Energy Standard Act of 2012 introduced by Senator Bingaman (D-NM) would create a national mandate requiring retail electric utilities to provide a specified percentage of their electricity from clean, low-carbon energy sources. The proposal outlines a schedule in which 24 percent of electricity sales must be generated from qualifying clean energy sources in 2015, and ultimately reaching 84 percent in 2035.
“We laud this initiative and look forward to providing a platform for the innovation and participating in the conversation that it generates.” continued Polito.
Total Energy’s professional educational conference will be led by experts in fossil, renewable and nuclear power generation, energy efficiency and use, finance, business strategies as well as local, federal and foreign government policymakers. By assembling thought leaders, visionaries and policy shapers who are at the forefront of the developments that influence the energy industry, Total Energy USA will facilitate collaborative conversations about the state of energy today and the best options to design the way we produce and use energy tomorrow. More than a think tank or academic exercise, Total Energy USA’s creators also intend it to be an important marketplace for business, where interested parties can make contacts, find partners and prospects, arrange financing, and learn from suppliers about the newest advances in technology across the board.
Total Energy USA will bring together professionals from across the energy spectrum, including experts in fossil, renewable and nuclear power generation, distribution, energy efficiency and use, policymakers, strategists, media and more.
Event details, educational sessions, participating exhibitors and more will be available over the next months on the event’s website, www.TotalEnergyUSA.com, through social media channels, the industry press and a robust direct marketing campaign. Interested participants are encouraged to mark their calendars, visit the web site and sign up to receive show updates.
