Solar Panels UK, who are the UK’s leading solar energy resource website, are pleased to announce that they have now launched, for the first time, a solar panel application for both the iPhone and the iPad.
K9 Media both own and operate the website along with several other highly successful price comparison websites. As far back as 2008 many thousands of valued customers have visited the sites.
The CEO and founder of K9 Media Ltd, Andy Biggs, said: “Solar Panels UK fits nicely within our group of popular and successful price comparison websites that have been operational for several years.
Until now this tool has only been available through direct access on our website. However, as a business, we are keen to keep abreast of technology and with increased consumer usage of the iPhone and iPad we wanted to make this application tool accessible to as many of our customers as possible. After considerable investment on our part we are pleased to announce that owners of the iPhone and iPad can now access this facility.“
Andy Biggs added: “This application assists the consumer, who is considering having solar panels installed either on their roof or another site, in determining the potential efficiency levels that could be achieved. It is very easy and quick to use benefiting from Google Maps technology so is ideal to be used whilst the consumer is “on the move” if necessary.
“Having downloaded the solar panel suitability checker for either the iPad or the iPhone to their device the consumer need only press the 'Use Current Location' button that allows the suitability checker to find them through the inbuilt GPS program. Alternatively the site’s address can be entered manually and the country selected via the drop down menu.”
Andy Biggs further commented: “Having located the site or property and then used the satellite imagery for fine tuning, the app utilises a performance graph overlay to establish how suitable a particular section of the building’s roof or site is.
“This tool is a great help to the consumer in identifying the particular section of the roof or site that provides the optimal solar efficiency. We are currently working on version 2.0 with a view to factoring in sun time data taking into account the GPS location together with the roof’s tilt/slope angle that will allow us to produce an estimate of the generation of energy in kWh."
Consumers will be pleased to hear that the application tool works worldwide and, better still, is free for users of both the iPhone and the iPad. The iTunes store page can be viewed at http://itunes.apple.com/app/solar-panels-suitability-checker/id537591409.
“If you live in the UK but do not possess a portable apple device you can still access the application tool online at http://www.solarpanelsuk.co.uk/suitability-checker.php.”
