I thought the Ivanpaw Project in San Bernardino County, California was a 2 Gig project all by itself. Isn't that included in the stats?

Hi Hawkster,

I used the market sizing figures from GTM/SEIA's latest report. I am not sure about the progress of the Ivanpaw Project or if it is included in these figures, but I believe it is still under construction.

I use to live in San Bernardino County. When I left there 20 months ago the county had between 13 and 18 gig of projects in planning there.

If my memory is correct, Ivanpaw was an approved multi-phase project when I left. If you want more accurate info on its development you can contact County Supervisor Josie Gonzalas's office for an update.

The problem with San Bernardino county is that it is easier to get a prison built in that county than a large scale solar project. You get what you pay for, San Bernardino county has the highest incarceration rate of any county in the country. Renewable energy would have been a far better investment. They invested badly.

I put a $50.00 $10.00/watt 5 watt panel on my sailplane tailer for night lights and get my feet wet on solar PV. Somelone ripped on the mounts, probably a drug related theft so why invest it it is to be stolen . Pres. J. Carter had some installed on the roof of the White House and Pres. Reagan admin took them down. Solar Moore's Law of 5 years half the price has been holding steady from 1950. 35% of the electrical power cost is delivery over the lines (7% lines losses from power plant) so that can be big for some users. Cal Tech (CIT) in California (a school) has solar PV on the parking garage roof and also fuel cells. Note garage PV has cooling value in summer.

It's great to see that community solar gardens are being recognized with the enormous potential they have. The only other things mentioned are taxes - we are the bright spot in solar this year!

Solar gardens and Feed in Tariffs would suck up surplus solar panel stocks in a matter of weeks, just from California. There is no doubt that the state of California alone could consume the same volume of solar equipment stocks as Germany, maybe more.
