Not all, but most of the naysayers on renewables are Republican.
Democrats are generally supportive, and acknowledge global warming, which most Republicans obstinately deny.

Back to the issue at hand, the economics of "water leasing", which sounds like a PPA, are certainly better when replacing electric water heating, but how about natural gas? How does the ROI compare when you factor in the low price of NG?

And let's be honest, while many Republicans are against mandates and subsidies very few are "against solar". There are probably more Democrats working to block solar (or wind, or hydro, or geothermal or ethanol) projects on the grounds that they harm deserts, or birds and bats, or fish or the water table than there are Republicans trying to block specific projects.

Energy is political enough as it is, no need to go out of your way to make it more so.

I'm still amazed that there could be more than a tiny percentage of the voting population that would actually defend anything Republican. Maybe the top %1 who control most of this countries wealth and power and by default the Republican party? The current crop of leaders of the party are as close to full blown criminals as we have ever seen. They are without shame. When I hear the word Conservative or Republican images of some of the most repugnant entities humans have created come to mind. Defending anything the Republican party represents is like a slave putting on a lavish party for his plantation master. Wake up folks before it's too late. That goes also for the Democrats for all you Republican Zombies. Politics and energy are now so closely linked that it's like an umbilical cord. Time to cut that cord to survive. And as for the Nukes. Ever see a master control his slaves without a big wip? Only those who don't feel pain would support Nukes.

Political parties don't matter as much as clear thinking and solid innovation. Futura Solar takes the position that combined benefits should move the market forward, but FLS seems to have an immediate road forward.

If we really want to delay the solar energy movement in this good ole USA all we have to do is get politics involved. Better lay off of this partisan stuff if we really want a solution to our energy problems.

Politics aside, we salute the FLS energy for its innovative thinking and moving forward with installation of solar thermal (a very low hanging fruit)and reaping the benefits. Even the 'low cost" of natural gas will not last for ever. We did a calculation for several non profit entities. These show that even without the government subsidies, the solar thermal has an acceptable pay back period. If this technology were to be combined with space heating and solar thermal dehumidification, the pay back becomes extremely attractive.
Keep up the good work FLS.

In California at Chromasun and Sunwater Solar we do exactly the same thing. Solar Thermal PPA's are the next wave of solar financing and a great (and safe) place to put investment dollars. Not much goes wrong with solar thermal systems and creditworthy offtake customers are plentiful. Watch this space.
