Dana,no, you are not a dreamer, and you are also not the only one. There are many more concerened citizens, who would love to act, but they do not know, in which direction they should become active.
Why not try to start with an analysis of the excisting energy system first?
After that, we should all know, where to go!
Yes, we can!

Hi:

Well, you (we) must have dreams...

Dreams, like well thought out sci-fi, can come true but are often rushed in terms of when the reality actually occurs...
This is just a simple function of the desirability of the goal.. for the dreamer...
The wanting and yearning if you wish... which is fine...

The advance of micro tech is too often used as an example of what can happen if.... It is really a bad example to use. It is most likely a one and only event. The speed and rapidity of that technology's advancement has its fundamentals in the extreme possible limits for size and speed. RE be it solar, wind, hydro, etc. has limits of improvement that are not even close (by orders of magnitude) to those of the comp tech world. There are of course general comparisons you can walk away with, that apply to any developing market product(s). Consumer education, economies to scale, best practices, etc. all of which are valid...

This is the result of the entrenched technologies doing a superb job of market confusion. They have for a long, long time realized what anyone in warfare knows, if you can maintain a state of confusion regarding the other side, the inevitable outcome is inaction which translates directly to victory.

The dream will happen (Soon enough though?) but like the lunar colony's on the moon in 2030 in the movie, "The Time Machine", it will take a bit longer than a decade...
