I can't tell you how many times people I talk to people who slam renewable energies for requiring subsidies and incentives but they don't even blink at the multi-trillion dollar price tag on militarily policing the world's oil supply. Ask them how much of a price we should put on carbon, and the answer in NONE whatsoever. Period. And these regular folks are often not even connected to the fossil fuel industries, they just have that mindset.

The other thing I wanted to add to your elegant post was that I have never heard any good explanation for where millions of new jobs are supposedly going to come from, if not the renewable energy sector.

I don't know about the jobs part - lots of robotics being used here - partially powered by the sun...
