There are two problems with your proposal. First is that removing current subsidies to oil, gas and coal companies is politically impossible. The fossil energy companies will launch massive PR campaigns against it. Second, the fossil energy companies have had a hundred years to builod up their infrastructure. Renewable energy needs some initial help to ramp up and not only become competitive but will shortly become the preferred source of incremental energy production in the US.
