This sounds great on the surface. But do we really need to fund R & D for what we already know? We use the costly sources for energy that could be gotten from solar directly. There is little need for electricity and fuel if we provide our heating from solar collection. And heating is half of energy demand in this country.
No one wants to get behind programs for solar heating if investors and large corporations don't profit, ey? If it benefits small and large businesses and home infrastructures it still can't gain political traction. Banks could help with the initial upfront costs. They are missing out on this.
If it became profitable, and it is now for adopters, for heating to be done on a largely individual basis without buying polluting fuel or power, would the energy demand not be greatly diminished? At a time when the people are losing financial ground to big banks and business do we really want to let big government try to solve what we can do ourselves?
Forget the energy companies. Get your own solar heating! It pays.
