Christopher D. Barry, P.E. is a naval architect and co-chair of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers ad hoc panel on ocean renewable energy. He has worked in design agencies, shipyards and manufacturers in the marine industry and in offshore oil exploration and currently works for the Coast Guard.
Thomas R. Blakeslee is president of the Clearlight Foundation and the author of several books that have been published in nine different languages. He earned a degree from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California in 1962. After working for IT&T in Antwerp, Belgium, he moved to Silicon Valley in California where he helped found several startup companies as Engineering Vice President. In 1980 he used his own money to found Orion Instruments Inc. He served as President and then Chairman of the Board until he retired in 1998. A prolific inventor, he holds patents in such diverse fields as photography, hydraulics, electronic circuits, information display, digital telephony, instrumentation and vehicle guidance. Since retiring from Orion, he has focused on managing his own and others investments. After years of successfully investing in oil and gas stocks, he came to the realization that the burning of fossil fuels was ruining our planet through pollution and global warming. His search for practical solutions led him to geothermal energy, where he found an amazing gap between it's potential and present reality. The Clearlight Foundation is his vehicle for change using his own and friend's personal savings for the good of the planet.
Geothermal Energy Association Leslie Blodgett edits the Geothermal Energy Association's weekly newsletter. She has been involved in the production of many of GEA's recent reports and workshops and has written articles for several renewable energy publications. Prior to her work with GEA, she was an editor with the American Geophysical Union.
Mark Braly was energy advisor to the mayor of Los Angeles during the 70s energy shock, author of the city's prize-winning energy plan, and president of a State of California non-profit corporation which made loans to renewable energy businesses. Now retired, he is a City of Davis, California, planning commissioner working on the city's zero-carbon program.

Dr. Christensen is an expert in cleantech acquisition and investment. She has over 15 years of experience in high-tech marketing and business development management. Most recently, she was Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Akeena Solar Inc. and prior to that, she founded and sold two companies. Currently, Dr. Christensen is responsible for customer education at REC Solar. Dr. Christensen holds a Ph.D. in Marketing and Consumer Psychology from the University of London and Universite de Toulouse. Eize de Vries is Wind Technology Correspondent for Renewable Energy World magazine. An automotive and agricultural engineer by profession, he worked on developing rural water lifting devices and rural transportation equipment in Botswana. Later he worked as a consultant in Mauritania and Bangladesh. Returning to the Netherlands he set up a renewable energy consultancy. Eize has also taught courses in wind energy technology, sustainable product design and related fields.

Geothermal Energy Association Karl has been the Executive Director of the Geothermal Energy Association since 1997. He was formerly Director of Government Affairs for the American Wind Energy Association and has held senior positions at the National Wildlife Federation and The Wilderness Society. He worked in several positions in the U.S. Congress, including Associate Staff of the House Appropriations Committee and Legislative Assistant to Senator Paul Wellstone (D-Minn).
Paul Gipe has written extensively about renewable energy for both the popular and trade press. He has also lectured widely on wind energy and how to minimize its impact on the environment and the communities of which it is a part. For his efforts, the World Renewable Energy Congress honored Gipe as a "pioneer" in 1998, and the American Wind Energy Association named him as the industry's "person of the year" in 1988. In 2004, Gipe served as the acting executive director of the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association where he created, managed, and implemented a provincial campaign for Advanced Renewable Tariffs. The campaign sought to adapt electricity feed laws to the North American market and was instrumental in placing the European concept on the political agenda in Canada and the United States.
Michael Goggin joined AWEA in February 2008. He represents the wind industry on transmission and grid integration matters, coordinates member input on the development of policy positions, facilitates the exchange of information between members, handles press inquiries on transmission-related issues, and advocates policy positions that advance wind industry interests. Through these activities, he works to promote transmission investment and advance changes in transmission rules and operations to better accommodate wind energy in the power system while maintaining system reliability. Prior to joining AWEA, he worked for two environmental advocacy groups and a consulting firm supporting the U.S. Department of Energy's renewable energy programs. Michael holds a B.A. with honors in Social Studies from Harvard College.
Julia Hamm has served as the Executive Director of the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) since January 2004. Prior to running SEPA, Ms. Hamm worked as a senior associate at ICF International, a leading consulting firm in the areas of energy and environment, where she supported the US Environmental Protection Agency with the implementation of the ENERGY STAR program. Her career has focused on developing tools to communicate the value of renewable energy and energy efficiency to electric utilities, municipal governments and product manufacturers. Ms. Hamm is the chair of the Solar Power Conference & Expo and is on the board of directors of the Interstate Renewable Energy Council. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Cornell University.
Christy Herig serves as SEPA’s regional director for the Eastern US. She brings a strong background in the Southeast U.S. private electric utility industry and solar value analysis. In addition to 15 years at Florida Power Corporation (now Progress Energy), Christy targeted solar market definition, valuation and assessment as a Principal Research Engineer at the National Center for PV at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. She also chairs the International Energy Agency’s, PV Power Systems, Task 10: Urban Scale PV Applications, and has provided consulting services to the USDOE, the PV industry and the California Energy Commission.
Michael Hoexter, Ph.D., a renewable energy and energy efficiency advocate, has helped California utilities implement and market energy and resource efficiency programs. Tam is a renewable energy law and policy expert with substantial experience in California, on local energy planning and on state policy. He has worked with local governments throughout Southern California through his previous role as Energy Program Director for the Community Environmental Council, a well-known non-profit organization based in Santa Barbara. Tam has contributed frequently to state policy, in Sacramento and in San Francisco at the California Public Utilities Commission. Tam is also a Lecturer in Climate Change Law and Policy at UC Santa Barbara’s Bren School of Environmental Science & Management.
Sue Kateley is Executive Director of CALSEIA, a position she returned to in 2007 following 20 years at the California Energy Commission. From 1983 to 1986, Sue served as Executive Director of CALSEIA. Sue's first job in the solar industry was as a purchasing agent for a solar company located in the Sacramento area, where she worked from 1978 until 1981. In 1981, Sue started working for CALSEIA as Technical Adviser.
Ms. Kiener serves as SEPA`s regional director for the Western US. She brings over 25 years experience in the electric utility industry in the areas of renewable resource portfolios, short and long term strategic planning, green house gas regulation, integrated resource planning, resource adequacy, FERC open access polices and transmission planning, siting and certificate approval. Her focus has been on state and federal energy regulatory and policy implementation and legislative issues for both public power and investor owned sectors. She has worked for both public power and investor owned utilities as well as doing stints with both a consumer advocate agency and a public service board.
AWEA Carl is communications editor at the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA). He has worked as a journalist in both the energy industry, as a staff writer for Public Utilities Fortnightly magazine, and in the association sector, as senior editor at Association Management magazine. He also has covered the home-building industry, where his areas of greatest interest were sustainable development and "smart growth," and has written articles for numerous other publications as a freelance writer.
Independent Wall Street Analyst J. Peter Lynch has worked, for 30 years as a Wall Street analyst, an independent equity analyst and private investor, and a merchant banker in small emerging technology companies. He has been actively involved in following developments in the renewable energy sector since 1977 and is regarded as an expert in this area. He is currently a financial and technology consultant to a number of companies.
World Future Council Miguel Mendonça is Research Manager for the World Future Council. His background is in forestry, horticulture, geography, history, journalism, social science and environmental ethics. He works in both research and advocacy, focussing on renewable energy policy. He has worked on four continents, campaigning, coalition-building and speaking, and is a member of the steering committee of the Alliance for Renewable Energy, promoting feed-in tariffs in North America. He writes articles, papers, comment pieces and book reviews on renewable energy and other sustainability issues, is author of “Feed-in Tariffs: accelerating the deployment of renewable energy” and is co-writing a new book on decarbonising the global economy, entitled “A Renewable World – Policies, Practices, Technologies.”
Independent Renewable Energy Expert Al has held a number of leadership positions in the renewable energy and finance fields, and most recently was COO and EVP of Environmental Power Corporation/Microgy, a publicly-traded developer of commercial-scale biogas facilities. Previously Al worked for many years in the capital raising and M&A fields, having acted as a merchant banker, investment banker and corporate lawyer. Al has his JD and MBA degrees from Columbia University, and his undergraduate degree from Cornell University.
Ithaca Biodiesel Meghan is a founding member and now acting president of Ithaca Biodiesel, a worker-owned biodiesel cooperative in Ithaca, New York. Meghan is a graduate of Cornell University, and trained as a Solar Technician at Farmingdale State University in New York. He is an advisor to Arkansas-based Infinite Enzymes and Ontario-based Stemergy, both of which are working to introduce new agricultural-based opportunities. Nelson was one of six initial steering committee members for the Southeast Sun Grant Initiative based at University of Tennessee which has received over $40 million in Federal funding for university research. Tom Nicholas serves as SEPA?s regional director for the Central US. He has more than 20 years of executive level experience in the electric utility industry, including 7 years on both the regulated and unregulated sides of NISOURCE in Indiana. More recently, Tom served as Central US Regional Operations Manager with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), and has also served and chaired numerous EPRI and EEI utility committees.

Michigan Technological University David R. Shonnard is a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Michigan Technological University and Deputy Director of the Sustainable Futures Institute there. Before joining the faculty at Michigan Tech, Shonnard held a postdoctoral research position at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 1990-1992. He was a visiting instructor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley in 1993. Dr. Shonnard's research focuses on environmental transport of pollutants, green engineering (environmentally conscious design of chemical processes), and bioprocess/enzyme engineering of renewable fuels and chemicals from woody biomass.

Dr. David Toke is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Policy at the University of Birmingham.
