Focus Solar has launched the PV Yield Optimizer design tool for PV system planners and developers. Using satellite data from the national weather satellite, planners can now utilize the full power of NASA satellite technology for the design of solar systems. The unique combination of geophysical science and PV engineering offers easy-to-use information for end-users giving practical answers to engineering questions.
The Yield Optimizer is a comprehensive report on the solar resource potential of a selected site. It combines an energy yield prediction with recommendations for optimum solar panel orientation.
Focus Solar employs state of the art scientific methods featuring the most precise spatial information. The Yield Optimizer redefines the meaning of site-specific analysis. The commonly used tool PVWatts from NREL operates on a 40 km x 40 km grid, the Yield Optimizer has a grid of 0.8 km x 1.4 km. That's a factor of 1000 better resolution.
