In the Netherlands we have a big plant that converts glycerol to methanol. Flex fuel cars can run perfectly on methanol.

A major UK Water Company has said they would consider taking 360,000 Tonnes. Dependant on quality, delivery would consist in journeys of more than 250 miles to their bases. They would accept but not pay for Glycerol.

In previous employment, used to poisen Ethanol with Methenol, which are other names for Alcohol and Wood Alcohol. Tax on Ethanol was £25Million, Tax on Methanol was only 1/100, so this is really good news.

So we have a certain risk attached to e. coli in food production & processing. Does using e. coli for fuel production add substantially to that risk? Has anyone assessed this?
